Portland Mercury Sounds Off On SK

\"\"

Erik Henriksen at the Portland Mercury likes the sound effects in Skullkickers Vol. 1… in fact he likes pretty much every part of our sword & sassery adventures.

\”writer Jim Zubkavich and artist Edwin Huang giddily smoosh up splattery violence, ripe-for-the-subverting fantasy clichés, and laugh-out-loud humor to make Skullkickers a fast, fun, addictive read.

In a medium where genuinely funny comics are all too rare, and in a genre currently defined by mopier-than-thou downers like A Game of Thrones and Dragon Age, the enthusiastic Skullkickers is a welcome addition.\”

SK Reviewed on School Library Journal

\"\"

Eva Volin at the School Library Journal thoroughly enjoyed Skullkickers despite herself.

\”I sent in a field nomination for Skullkickers to YALSA’s Great Graphic Novels for Teens and I hope someone on the committee seconds it. Yes, there is plenty of cartoon violence, cartoon swearing, and general cartoon oafery. But any graphic novel that can make a fourteen-year-old boy and a forty-cough-year-old woman say, “Gross!” and “Awesome!” in the same breath deserves to be considered for the list.\”

HT ♥'s SK XOXO

\"\"

Howard Tayler, the Hugo-nominated webcomic creator of Schlock Mercenary, has been a friend and supporter of Skullkickers from the very beginning.

His latest blog post, titled \’Skullkickers: It\’s The Comic I Wish I Had Written\’, knocked us flat out. We\’re humbled by his praise and deeply appreciate his vote of confidence. Thank you, Howard!

The Buy Pile Recommends SK Vol. 1

\"\"

Hannibal Tabu at CBR\’s Buy Pile diverted from his typical issue-only format to recommend Skullkickers Vol.1.

\”…Skullkickers is hard to put down. Really, it\’s a lot of what \’Dungeons and Dragons\’ was trying to be, with a perfect balance of character interaction and the kind of axe-swinging, monster-battling adventure that makes the genre so compelling.\”…\”it was fun — so much that this column, which normally doesn\’t have time to go past 22 pages, could not stop reading it.\”

Skullkickers are in USA Today!

\"\"

Brian Truitt at USA Today has a brand new article up just in time for the trade launch discussing fantasy fun and character names, along with exclusive new artwork from the upcoming second story arc.

\”Imagine Clint Eastwood\’s The Man With No Name, Bad Boys and your local Renaissance festival thrown into a stein of the finest grog in town, and you have a sense of the full-on Skullkickers experience.\”
