Zub on CBR TV from C2E2

\"\"

CBR TV filmed a quick interview segment with Zub at C2E2 a few weeks ago and they\’ve just posted the clip up today on their site.

Zub\’s last name is misspelled and mispronounced, but the piece was filmed at the hotel bar after a long convention day so we\’re assuming multiple pints were involved in the production process. 😉

The Hopeless Gamer Believes in Kicking Skulls

\"\"

Gaming blog extraordinaire The Hopeless Gamer embraces the Skullkickers story ecstatically, praising its tabletop RPG roots and frantic fantasy fun.

\”I\’m not going to sugarcoat this: Skullkickers will kick your ass. Sitting there reading the first volume of the series, 1,000 Opas and a Dead Body you\’ll start to freak out and hallucinate. You will believe that the creators, writer Jim Zub, line artist Edwin Huang, and colorist Misty Coats somehow snuck into your gaming group last Friday, cast a spell of confusion on all of you, and recorded the entire session to be meticulously recreated just moments later in this vibrant, ultra-violent dream of a fantasy comic.\”

Primary Ignition Reviews SK Vol. 1

\"\"

Primary Ignition enjoyed our first issue back in September and now that they\’ve caught up with the series via our newly released trade paperback, they\’re fully on board the Skullkickers train.

\”We’ve got likable, oddball heroes who are free to roam around in a unique environment and get into trouble. That’s very fertile ground for comedic storytelling, and that’s what we get from Skullkickers. I for one, am anxious to see more.\”

Skullkickers Meets The Sixth Gun This Week

\"\"

If you picked up the latest issue of Oni Press\’ The Sixth Gun this week you may have noticed a surprising ad for our very own monster mashy series in the back.

Cross-company promotion like this is rare in the comic biz, but both creative teams are enjoying each other\’s series and felt that the audiences were quite compatible, so we set up an ad swap to see if we could cross-pollinate interest between readers. Skullkickers #7, arriving late May and kicking off our second story arc, will likewise have an Oni Press Sixth Gun ad in the back. Creator owned comics are all in the same boat and we\’re looking for every edge we can get in this market.

If you haven\’t picked up The Sixth Gun, you really should do so. Like SK, TSG recently released their first trade paperback so it\’s easy to get caught up. The Sixth Gun is a wild west fantasy-fueled adventure series with monsters, magic items and mayhem that\’s garnered fantastic reviews and goodwill from pros and fans alike. If you like Skullkickers, you\’ll almost certainly enjoy the Sixth Gun too. Read it, and tell \’em we sent ya. 🙂

All Star Comics Recommends SK Vol. 1

\"\"

All Star Comics in Melbourne, Australia heartily recommends Skullkickers Vol. 1 in its latest capsule review.

\”The action is crazy but fun made even more impressive by the stand out art by Edwin Huang who going on his work here is set to have a big future. Also a true standout of this book is the beautiful colour work by Misty Coats.\”

When Words Collide Talks Fantasy Comics

\"\"

In Tim Callahan\’s latest When Words Collide column on CBR he focuses on new fantasy comics that have entered the market and Skullkickers is prominently mentioned.

\”Jim Zubkavich treats his story with a similar irreverence, turning zombie infestations and lycanthropisms and necromancery into the stomping grounds for a comic that reads like it was written by a weekly group of players, downing the carbonated beverage and the salty snacks before tossing out sarcastic comments about their in-game situation.\”

Oops! SK Also in Wizardworld #1!

\"\"

Justin Aclin pointed out to us that Skullkickers showed up in Wizardworld Digital #1 too, not just issue #3.

In the premiere issue of Wizard\’s digital pop culture magazine Skullkickers is listed under \”Three Comics That Should Be Video Games\”. We can\’t say that we disagree. 🙂

SK Kicks c2e2!

\"\"

Misty, Marshall and Zub had a great weekend in Chicago at c2e2! The con floor was bustling and we were thrilled to meet so many Skullkickers fans at the show.

By Saturday afternoon our stock of trade paperbacks and limited edition hardcovers ran out. Even when Misty brought more trades on Sunday morning to restock they only lasted a couple hours. Needless to say, we were thrilled at the response people had to the book and are extra excited about our second story arc starting in late May.

Thank you, everyone who came by to get books signed. We couldn\’t do it without your support!

SK in Wizardworld #3

Zub gets promoted in the latest issue of Wizardworld Digital magazine as part of an article called \”Five On The Rise\” which focuses on up and coming comic creators. On top of that, SK makes a small appearance on the cover.
