Here we GO!
SKULLKICKERS: CASTER BASTARDS and the GREAT GROTESQUE is a new sword & sorcery comic story AND 5e-compatible tabletop adventure, funding NOW on Kickstarter!
Please help spread the word far and wide and, if you like what you see, back the campaign!
Come celebrate 10 years of skull-kicking goodness with us. 🙂
The Skullkickers have just been announced as part of the Rum & Bones board game Kickstarter! They’re an exclusive set of 5 figures (complete with their own character-centric rules) only available as part of the Kickstarter pre-order process.
Rum & Bones is the new pirate-themed board game by Cool Mini Or Not, creators of ‘Zombicide’. Zub had a chance to meet the Cool Mini crew at Gen Con and they talked about the possibility of teaming up in the future. Once they started work on Rum & Bones, they both felt it would be a great way to use the SK cast, especially since there was a pirate story in Volume 3, ‘Six Shooter on the Seven Seas’.
As you can see, the character archetypes from Skullkickers marry themselves well to the Rum & Bones play style and the miniature sculpts look awesome!
If you’re a board game fan or Skullkickers fan we hope you’ll click through to check out Rum & Bones (which wraps up pre-orders on December 28th) and tell your friends about it too. We can’t wait to battle it out with our very own skullkicking pirate crew!
Comic Book Resources has a 6 page preview of Skullkickers #24 (a.k.a. ‘Before Skullkickers’) posted on their site. Check out the incredible artwork of Stjepan Sejic in this short story all about Kusia written by Ron Marz.
Evolution of a Fanboy has posted up an interview they recorded with Jim at New York Comicon. His voice is hoarse, but he still talks up a storm about Skullkickers.
Today\’s the day!
Skullkickers #18, our \’Son of Tavern Tales\’ anthology issue, arrives in comic shops across North America today. If you want a sneak peek at the good times to come, check out the 6 page preview posted up on Comic Book Resources that teases the awesome dragon-hunting story by Justin Jordan and Tradd Moore (Luther Strode).
SHORT STORIES ARE TALL TALES IN SKULLKICKERS #18
Anthology issue of Image Comics series features top talent
Jim Zub\’s SKULLKICKERS is a cult hit, thanks to its hilarious writing, vibrant art, and, well, ample skull-kicking. The Image title has so much monster-bashing and face-smashing that it simply can\’t be expressed by one creative team. So, with SKULLKICKERS #18, some of independent comics\’ best and brightest will be pitching in with stories of their own in the latest \”Tavern Tales\” issue, a collection of short stories.
Included in the mix are John Layman and Rob Guillory (CHEW), Justin Jordan and Tradd Moore (THE STRANGE TALENT OF LUTHER STRODE), Blair Butler (HEART), Charles Soule (27), and J. Torres (Teen Titans Go!, Batman: The Brave and the Bold).
The spotlight is on Aubrey Sitterson and Ivan Anya, however — the creative team won the SKULLKICKERS Tavern Tales contest and will have their short story featured in SKULLKICKERS #18.
\”We put out the call to fans of Skullkickers or any creative comic creators at all — submit your Skullkickers short story ideas or submit a two-page sample of artwork based on a script excerpt we had posted at www.skullkickers.com,\” explained series creator and writer Zub. \”With over 300 entries, it was incredibly difficult narrowing it down to one writer and one artist, but in the end Aubrey Sitterson and Ivan Anya popped to the top of their respective groups and their short story collaboration is going to knock people out!\”
Sidle up to the bar, order an ale, and get ready to hear some tall tales! SKULLKICKERS #18 (JUL120516) will be in stores on September 26 and can be pre-ordered now.
This week on the amazing Sindiecate art blog, the theme is Skullkickers! Yes!
The first pic, done by Jorge F. Muñoz is truly skullkickin\’-worthy.
We cannot wait to see what other art is put together by the gang. Head on over and check them out.
Launching a new creator-owned comic series is really tough in this market. Every comic retailer who carries Image Comics and supports creator-owned books should be thanked for their hard work.
The retailers listed below are what we’re calling our “Skullkickers Certified” stores. These shops have worked incredibly hard to help promote Skullkickers to their customers and shown us lots of love. In turn, we want to help advertise them here and in our printed issues.
If your store is worthy of being called “Skullkickers Certified”, please let us know! We want to tell our readers about you and give you the praise you deserve. Drop us a line via our Contact page and join the ranks of the dwarf’s mighty thumb’s up.
If you can’t find a shop in your area on the list below, search for one at the Comic Shop Locator website.
