All Star Comics Recommends SK Vol. 1

\"\"

All Star Comics in Melbourne, Australia heartily recommends Skullkickers Vol. 1 in its latest capsule review.

\”The action is crazy but fun made even more impressive by the stand out art by Edwin Huang who going on his work here is set to have a big future. Also a true standout of this book is the beautiful colour work by Misty Coats.\”

When Words Collide Talks Fantasy Comics

\"\"

In Tim Callahan\’s latest When Words Collide column on CBR he focuses on new fantasy comics that have entered the market and Skullkickers is prominently mentioned.

\”Jim Zubkavich treats his story with a similar irreverence, turning zombie infestations and lycanthropisms and necromancery into the stomping grounds for a comic that reads like it was written by a weekly group of players, downing the carbonated beverage and the salty snacks before tossing out sarcastic comments about their in-game situation.\”

Oops! SK Also in Wizardworld #1!

\"\"

Justin Aclin pointed out to us that Skullkickers showed up in Wizardworld Digital #1 too, not just issue #3.

In the premiere issue of Wizard\’s digital pop culture magazine Skullkickers is listed under \”Three Comics That Should Be Video Games\”. We can\’t say that we disagree. 🙂

SK Kicks c2e2!

\"\"

Misty, Marshall and Zub had a great weekend in Chicago at c2e2! The con floor was bustling and we were thrilled to meet so many Skullkickers fans at the show.

By Saturday afternoon our stock of trade paperbacks and limited edition hardcovers ran out. Even when Misty brought more trades on Sunday morning to restock they only lasted a couple hours. Needless to say, we were thrilled at the response people had to the book and are extra excited about our second story arc starting in late May.

Thank you, everyone who came by to get books signed. We couldn\’t do it without your support!

SK in Wizardworld #3

Zub gets promoted in the latest issue of Wizardworld Digital magazine as part of an article called \”Five On The Rise\” which focuses on up and coming comic creators. On top of that, SK makes a small appearance on the cover.

Portland Mercury Sounds Off On SK

\"\"

Erik Henriksen at the Portland Mercury likes the sound effects in Skullkickers Vol. 1… in fact he likes pretty much every part of our sword & sassery adventures.

\”writer Jim Zubkavich and artist Edwin Huang giddily smoosh up splattery violence, ripe-for-the-subverting fantasy clichĂ©s, and laugh-out-loud humor to make Skullkickers a fast, fun, addictive read.

In a medium where genuinely funny comics are all too rare, and in a genre currently defined by mopier-than-thou downers like A Game of Thrones and Dragon Age, the enthusiastic Skullkickers is a welcome addition.\”

SK Reviewed on School Library Journal

\"\"

Eva Volin at the School Library Journal thoroughly enjoyed Skullkickers despite herself.

\”I sent in a field nomination for Skullkickers to YALSA’s Great Graphic Novels for Teens and I hope someone on the committee seconds it. Yes, there is plenty of cartoon violence, cartoon swearing, and general cartoon oafery. But any graphic novel that can make a fourteen-year-old boy and a forty-cough-year-old woman say, “Gross!” and “Awesome!” in the same breath deserves to be considered for the list.\”

HT ♥'s SK XOXO

\"\"

Howard Tayler, the Hugo-nominated webcomic creator of Schlock Mercenary, has been a friend and supporter of Skullkickers from the very beginning.

His latest blog post, titled \’Skullkickers: It\’s The Comic I Wish I Had Written\’, knocked us flat out. We\’re humbled by his praise and deeply appreciate his vote of confidence. Thank you, Howard!
