Broken Frontier Reviews Issue #2

\"\"

Broken Frontier writer Jason Wilkins digs in to Skullkickers #2 (in stores now) and likes what he finds. Check out his review.

\”Zubkavich and Huang’s nameless odd couple continues to entertain with their humorous, action-packed hijinks. Thanks to clear, balanced storytelling and a good-natured heart at its core, Skullkickers continues to put the “fun” back into funny books.\”

Skullkickers #2 In Stores Today!

\"\"

Skullkickers #2 is in stores today!

Has it really been a month already? Time is flying incredibly fast. Even still, we shipped on time and rocked it.

With the issue #1 3rd print announcement coming after Final Order Cut-Off for issue #2, we\’re expecting this latest issue to vanish relatively quick as more readers jump on board the series.

Snag a copy when you see it at your favorite comic store today and let us know what you think!

Joe Vriens Pin-Up

My friend and fellow UDONer Joe Vriens illustrated an amazing Skullkickers pin-up that we\’ll have in the back of a future issue.

iFanboy Catch-Up/Advance Review

\"\"

Paul Montgomery at iFanboy has a new review of Skullkickers #1 and 2 that does a great job of summing up the particular brand of sword & sassery we\’re dishing out with the series.

\”…this reads more like a tribute to Golden Axe. And if those two words mean anything to you, you\’ll understand just how great of news this really is.\”

MTV Coverage

MTV\’s new comic news site, MTV Geek, has a nice run through of Skullkickers that you can check out by clicking the logo above.

\”While it\’s a little tough to judge a book based solely on a single outing, if the witty writing and pretty pictures stay on par with what\’s in the first issue, Skullkickers should be enjoying a nice, long run for quite some time.\”

Our Comics & Your Comics

Hi Gang,

The electricity from NYCC is still crackling and I can\’t believe how quickly everything is happening. I received advance printed copies of issue #2 yesterday and the book turned out fantastic. I can\’t wait until October 20th when you can get your hands on it too.

One of the things that stuck with me from the convention last weekend was the number of people who came by to ask us about how to make their own comics or get published at Image. The excitement that kind of show generates can be a really powerful motivator for people to tell their own stories.

Back in June I posted about how we pitched Skullkickers to Image and I included a brief outline of the overall concept along with a bit of info about Image. Given how much has happened since then it\’s now buried in the blog archives, so let me link it again here:

Skullkickers: The Initial Popgun Pitch

If you have questions about the process (pitching, writing, art) feel free to post them in the comments below and I\’ll either answer them there or create new blog posts about them if they\’re more involved.

The comic industry can be a real meat grinder at times but hard work does pay off. Good quality material stands out. There are more opportunities for comics in print and on the web than ever before.
